BLOOD FROM A STONE immerses us in the dream-like world of Azul, a young competitive swimmer who loses (or finds) himself in ambition. In the pursuit of victory he resorts to a dark alchemy, and takes a deep dive into his own inner world. As a Strange man suddenly appears in Azul’s life, erotic attraction and rivalry collide and Azul’s insecurities and desires are laid bare.

JACKY DE GROEN
Jacky De Groen (1992) is an animation artist based in Ghent, Belgium. His colorfully painted films explore subconcious drives and identities, relating stories in a dreamlike structure with an emphasis on atmosphere and immersion. After graduating from the KASK School of Arts in Ghent in 2014, Jacky worked as an intern at animation studio Film Bilder in Stuttgart. In 2016 he was selected as Animation Artist in Residence in Tokyo by JAPIC. His work has been shown at film festivals internationally. Alongside his animation work, he is also active as an illustrator and animation lecturer.
